Fantastic Prizes for Rising Stars

22/4/2021

Five fantastic prizes are on offer to the winning act of Travers Rising Stars 21 which is searching for the next generation of musicians.

The free-to-enter challenge is open to any band, singing group or solo artist between the ages of 13 and 30 who live or study in Leicestershire, Northamptonshire or Rutland. The prize package includes recording studio sessions, a festival slot and time in a photographic studio for those all-important publicity shots. The winner will also be one of the first to showcase their talents on the soon to be launched Travers television channel.

One of the live recording sessions will be at Under the Apple Tree, the music brand curated by Whispering Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2 and best known for presenting the BBC Old Grey Whistle Test. Bob and his son Miles have spent the last five years building up an online audience that has had more than two million hits on its exclusive YouTube channel, WhisperingBobTV.

Leicester-based Yellow Bean Studio will work with the winning act at its state-of-the-art facility to help the winner create their own recordings with support from the studio’s professional engineer and mixing master.

Leicester Photo Studio will help create a professional portfolio of pictures putting a face to the name and creating a contemporary look to support the winning act.

And there is a chance to perform live on stage at this year’s Glastonblaby festival, a perfect platform for young aspiring acts.  Previous acts included, Kade Smith who went to feature in The Voice and young talented singers Liam Iliffe and Amber Saqladi .

The Travers Foundation hopes to continue to help more young people to find opportunities in the music industries and welcomes the support of sponsors including other businesses like Corby-based ECS Group and Leicestershire-based Majestic Joinery.

Kieran Forsey from The Travers Foundation said: “Travers Rising Stars 21 will give a new young band or artist a real opportunity to get their music heard by a wider audience and we believe the fantastic prizes will give the winner a stepping stone into the music industry.”

Auditions will be in the form of an unedited video no longer than ten minutes which will be reviewed by the judging panel and the best will go forward to a LIVE FINAL in Leicester.
Those keen to make their break can register their interest and submit their video now at www.traversrisingstars.com to secure a place. Closing date is 31 May 2021.
