LIZZIE TURNEY - Budding composer
“The Travers Foundation gave me the funding to learn music production so I can make music independently. It has helped me more than I ever imagined, and I'm now studying it further at university and aim to turn it into a career!'
Lizzie Turney, aged 21 from Ashley near Market Harborough, is a composer and aims to write scores for films and television.
Lizzie says: "I absolutely love composing, more than anything in the world. I've decided it's time to really 'go for it', and I am aiming to study for a Masters degree in composing for film and television.
"So far in my musical career I've composed the music for an advertisement for the University of Birmingham, I've spent much time gigging and composing, and have an album available on iTunes. I have written songs with friends from Uni for a play at the Edinburgh Fringe - I've even sent in an entry for Britain's next Eurovision song!"
Lizzie applied for financial assistance from The Travers Foundation, and the charity is helping her fund a music production course in London.
In return for the funding assistance, Lizzie wrote a theme song for The Travers Foundation called 'My Dream Is Still Alive', which received its debut at the charity's Showcase event at Corby Cube in March 2017.
Terry Forsey, Chairman of The Travers Foundation, said:
"We are delighted to be able to help Lizzie with her dreams of becoming a film and TV score composer.
"We are also very excited that she has agreed to compose a special theme song for The Travers Foundation and look forward to hearing it performed at the Showcase Event."
Lizzie is currently studying and composing - she is experimenting with software and using synthesisers to create a more modern sound.
