Recent recipients of support include Olympic-hopeful Lucy Hatton, Corby Athletics' rising star long-distance runner (who's just been called up for the GB squad heading to Tbilisi for the European Youth Championships) Isaac Akers, The Corby Cube Core Dancers and Actors, local filmmaker Kayleigh O'Connor, singer and actress Meg Lyons, golfer Ryan Evans, tennis player Joe Tyler, kick-boxers Joe Watkins and Tom Symonds, and singer Vicki-Louise Sherwin.
The black-tie dinner featured performances by The Top Banana Band who played their mix of funk, soul and blues and there was a Charity Auction with prizes donated by Barnsdale Lodge Hotel, Blackthorn Wood Golf Club, Coca Cola Enterprises, Olympic athlete and Foundation Trustee William Sharman, Silverstone Racing Circuit, Rockingham Castle, Truck East Ltd, The Olive Branch Clipsham, Travis Perkins, Aldi, Haddonstone Ltd, golfer Ryan Evans, Philip and Dee Day, Rab and Heather Fernie, Jane Harrison, Rob Sutton, Gregory Burns, Mark Smith, Paul Grimes and Gary Tait.
Terry Forsey of the Travers Foundation said:
"We had a wonderful evening of fund-raising in the idyllic Rutland waterside setting of Barnsdale Lodge Hotel, and the amazing total of £6,000 was raised. Every penny of this will go to supporting youngsters from the local area as the charity is entirely staffed by volunteers.
"A huge thank you to everybody who contributed to this event, including our sponsors ECS Ltd and Pete McGowan, Quantum Print, our MC for the evening Mark Thompson and The Top Banana Band, auctioneer David Palmer, match-funding support from Tina Clark of Lloyds Bank Corby, and not forgetting the Travers Foundation Events Team of John Leslie, Diane Masters, Dee Day and David Hall."
