Local charity The Travers Foundation is sad to announce that it has had to postpone its Patron's Lunch, which had been due to take place on Friday 18th November at the Holiday Inn, Geddington Road, Corby.
Patron and local golf superstar Ryan Evans, host of the event, has reached the final stages of the European Tour Qualifying School in Catalunya, Spain and has to attend a Pro workshop on Friday. Ryan is the charity's premier patron, and was the initial recipient of support from The Travers Foundation when it was set up in 2012 by local businessman Terry Forsey.
Terry comments:
"Naturally we are very disappointed that the Patron's Lunch has to be postponed, but you can't have a Patron's Lunch without the Patron, so we have to be pragmatic about it.
"Ryan himself is torn between his two commitments, but his sporting career has to come first, no question. We can reschedule the lunch, which will be for a date early in 2017, more details to be confirmed as soon as we can.
"Anyone who has bought tickets will have them automatically transferred to the new lunch date, or we will offer a full refund for anyone who needs one. Please contact us and we will sort this out."
The Travers Foundation is a volunteer run charity which helps 13 to 30 year olds living in Northamptonshire, Rutland or Leicestershire improve their skills in sports, the creative arts and the performing arts.
Recent recipients of support from the charity include hurdler Lucy Hatton, Corby Athletics' rising star long-distance runner Isaac Akers, The Corby Cube Core Dancers and Actors, local filmmaker Kayleigh O'Connor, singer and actress Meg Lyons, special Olympic gold medal winner Chris Southwell, Ball4All CIC basketball teams, tennis player Joe Tyler and budding composer Lizzie Turney.
