Jo Hutchby, a member of the University of Leicesters Distance Learning Recruitment Team, is helping Northamptonshire based charity The Travers Foundation who this month launched “The Coaching Programme”, one in a series of 4 funding schemes to be launched in 2014.
Jo followed up a call to help with administration work for the local charity, which helps 18-30 year old actors, dancers, singers, artists and sports stars develop their talent and reach their full potential.
“The Coaching Programme” can help young actors, dancers, singers, artists and sports stars of the future, who are just starting out or who have already achieved some success but now need a helping hand to improve. The fund is open to individuals or groups aged 18-30 living in Northamptonshire, Rutland or Leicestershire.
Jo said: “Living in a village community has shown how supporting those who may need help is so important, whether fundraising for charities such as MacMillan nurses, local playgroups or simply being there for those who need a listening ear or a helping hand with daily chores.
“Having two children of my own aged 17 and 21 I know the challenges of supporting children through their aspirations and I felt this was a good way to put my skills back into the community and support the trustees. I am able to use the recruitment and marketing skills I have gained as part of the Distance Learning Recruitment Team at the University of Leicester to help the charity.”
The Coaching Programme is now open for applications at www.travers-foundation.org.uk. The deadline for submission is 31st March 2014 and the successful candidates will be notified by the end of April 2014.
